Gothic
Gothic art movement came about in between the 12th and the 16th century in Europe. Along with influences on sculptures and paintings, the Gothic movement had a big influence on architecture. Gothic painters were influenced by stain-glass window style, design, and color. “Many Gothic painters favoured bright reds and blues typical of stained-glass. Painters were also commissioned to decorate manuscript copies of the Bible and prayer books for the churches.” (Art Education - Art Movement - Gothic) Gothic painters were the first to create oil paintings. One Gothic artist was Jan van Eyck. He was born in 1395 and died in 1441. One of his famous artworks is called Lucca Madonna which has lot of red in it which was one of the primary colors used in stain-glass windows.
